Elizabethton City Schools is launching new websites for the district and each school on Thursday, May 25, which could take up to 48 hours to publish. This is part of a district-wide effort to better inform parents and community members about events and achievements of students, faculty and staff at ECS. The new websites will be accessible at the same web addresses as current sites, with the district site accessible at www.ecschools.net.
"Our goal was to be able to make current information more accessible on our sites and to ensure that they are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act," said Bekah Price, ECS Public Relations Coordinator. "Our new content management system provider, SchoolPointe, has enabled us to do both at a more affordable rate than our previous CMS provider."
The process of transitioning to a new CMS has allowed ECS faculty and staff to review and update content. Some areas are still being developed on the sites and will continue to be under construction during the summer months. Any questions about the new sites should be forwarded to Price via email at ECS Central Office.
The sites are mobile responsive, which means all features of the full website are easily viewable on mobile devices. In addition, ECS will now offer a mobile application for each school. It features news, events, staff directory and other content, with the convenience of optional push notifications. The app, called SchoolPointe Stay Connected, can be downloaded in the App Store. It may be more than 48 hours before the app is available for download.
This website launch follows the recent release of a new district logo and brochure. In 2016, ECS also launched a Facebook page.
